My First Sewing Machine

That's right my friends I have a sewing machine. YAY! The last time I used a sewing machine I made some curtains for my friends bedroom and that was years ago. It isn't rocket science so they turned out quite well. Oh and it was a borrowed sewing machine so its not like it was available when I wanted-- boo!

I was doing some shopping with my mom and I mentioned my interest in purchasing a new little toy aka a sewing machine. Mom mentioned she had seen a cute one at Target that I may like because it wasn't for major sewing tasks. So, after our day of shopping Target was our last stop. We almost left because we couldn't find it but thankfully a super nice sales clerk from the electronics department pointed out the exact location. Next thing you know the cute little sewing machine was in my shopping cart.

Here it is--

What do you think? I know its not as awesome as other sewing machines I saw on display but for the time being it will do the job. I don't plan on sewing up a storm as of yet but we'll see what I come up with.

Laptop Table

Every now and again I devote some time to catch up on my favorite bloggers new projects while sitting in my living room watching HGTV! I love HGTV-- I really do. But after a while my lap just gets all hot, ya'ouch!

That came to an end when I found this little lady:
I do believe it is one of those 'breakfast in bed' tables but I have other plans for it.

(note: please pardon my dirty table and surrounding work space. This is what happens when I work on more than one project at a time.)

Enter my inspiration:

Yes, indeed it is none other than a Twilight gift bag! I stashed this baggie for a while because I just knew I'd use it for something wickedly awesome one day.

Here is how I did it:

* Carefully separate the bag where the edges are glued- including the bottom as
shown above. Then cut it to the desired shape and size.

* Paint your table whatever color you like. I kept it simple and primed it with two
coats of Kilz. Be sure to let the paint dry between coats.

* Once dried I applied a layer of Mod Podge & carefully placed the bag on top.

* Smooth the surface out carefully removing air bubbles and sealing the edges.

* Let it dry.

* Then apply one or two coats of Mod Podge over it and let dry.

These are the results:

Since the table is a little tall I just fold front 'legs' of the table and set it on an angle. Problem solved and I even get to enjoy looking at Edward and Jacob's beautiful faces -- when I move my netbook out of the way.

Oh, this is another quick project. I didn't take a before because I forgot but just picture an ugly mix of mustard and green color. All I did was paint it white-- Ta'da!

What the...

I had nearly completed my post when my computer froze! Ah, son of a rats tail now I have to start all over again. (sigh, curse word, sigh) Ok, I'm over it. I'll just have to make this shorter and sweeter.

As you can see by the lapse in dates from my last post to this one its been nearly a month. Good heavens what on earth happened? Well to be honest many things.  Between my 9-5 trabajo (job/work), my weekend job (Freelance Makeup Artist), DIY projects and family time-- let's just say I simply could not squeeze blogging time to the mix, until now.

Let's see on my last posted I closed by mentioning I was going to the screening of "The Smurfs" which I did check out. I love it! I grew up watching The Smurfs cartoons so watching the movie was awesomely cute. If you have not checked it out --go for it and if you have kids all the more reason. I don't have kids but I went anyway.

I have no idea as of yet what to place on top of the table. For now the sides are folded and the only items on top are the candle shown and some coasters. Any suggestions?

I ended up moving them from here and placing one on each side of Goldie. If you don't know who Goldie is check out my earlier post.  This improvised Photo Gallery is still in the works. And I will soon be painting my living room to a warm color as opposed to this cool color my landlord selected.  Oh my I just noticed that long cable dangling around. LOL I have no lighting in my living room so I hooked one up. I'll make a post on that soon.

Since this post seems to be getting longer and longer I'll end it here and just start a new one. This is a perfect example of why one should post one project at a time. LOL

Until the next post
